Autonomy for individual machines and for multiple agents in Virtual Worlds

Maelzel takes its name from a German inventor often associated with refinements made to the earliest metronomes. In a similar way, Maelzel exists because of engineering values that find a relationship between art and science; between the emergent properties of intelligent systems and those of systems based on strict determinism. More to the point, Maelzel was incorporated to do basic and applied research into computational systems that demonstrate apparent artificial intelligence, autonomy of behavioral selection, and adaptive learning characteristics.
